2.Embankment
People inhabiting coastlines in Japan have little protection from tidal waves. The most common method for protecting embankments now is to pour a layer of concrete over the surface of the weakened area. Tidal forces almost always wash these concrete surfaces away.( please refer to figure 2)
As described in chapter 1, by creating the vitrified columns with the plasma torch, extremely strong subsurface columns are created. Theses function as piling which would then be covered with concrete.
